@Ratty Said
I'm pretty agnostic in how I approach this whole thing.
Disclaimer: Sorry to bother you Ratty, but I'm a
d*** and such is life.
Comment: Agnostic is probably the most truthful and logical answer....at least that
most people can honestly give.
Granted is no doubt ( <<< little pun there
) that there are many who are so confident in their "beliefs" that "agnostic" would not be the correct answer.
None the less, I suspect that (at least in the Abrahamic religions as well as with alleged atheists) the vast majority have at least a light misting of doubt (if I were god I would expect this and not punish it... on the other hand if I were god... well things would go very poorly much faster for some people...
).
On the other hand, I suspect that nearly everyone actually
believes (especially in times of trouble) that there is some greater godlike thing/power/source/energy
out there... something more than just us.... at a minimum some undefined
force (please for give the Star Wars like reference...
)
How can there not be?
How can there be
nothing?
Life>>> death>>> then nothing... no purpose... no value... no meaning...
Of course I (Chaski) have no doubts. The word
agnostic doesn't work for me. If I were a christian monk I could easily claim full adherence to the Philokalia...and all the thought and knowledge that feeds it. Except, as stated many times here on TFS, I view the entire Abrahamic religion(s) thing as myth.
None the less, the sky exists, the earth exists, life is, energy is... at an atomic level our atoms are eternal, thus
we are eternal... this we know.
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction (is that
karma ?)... we know this.
...etc...
Perhaps we
know more than the idea of
agnostic represents... maybe.
Anyway... back to
my no doubts (not the band)... I have no doubts. The
Great Sky God is; The
Mother Earth is; and (metaphorically) the
Cave Bear is.
Heaven is a bizarre myth... it is the
carrot.
Hell is a bizarre myth... it is the
stick.
However
god... though not the god of Abraham... is...
The
definition of god is all that is in
question.... but I can assure you that
god doesn't care what
your definition of
god is.

my fellow posters is what happens when you start drinking brandy and decide to write philosophic mumbo-jumbo.
