I'm going to have to echo what white_swan is saying here. The music is an influence but it's not the sole driving factor. It's not as if I'm going to listen to Gangsta Rap (and I have ) and suddenly decide I'm going to start acting like a hoodlum.

Gotta agree....

I was going to "recite" some Snoop Dogg lyrics but decided that would probably just take the thread off a cliff.

So then in your previous post #292...you stated that the white community didn't really have the problems "Gangsta Rap" seems to have in the black community. But how many blacks do you find listing to "rave" music? Yet here you say it's a problem?

What hint are you trying to get at with rave music. Rave music itself, the people who listen to it arnt actually the problem, rave does not invoke violence. Most ravers are off there heads and loved up with each other. Its the legalities surrounding the supply and demand of recreation products.

Again Im not saying everyione who likes rap is gonna turn gangsta, but some people do get inspired by it. It is still an influence.

And when Bassline was still an underground movement in the UK, in SHeffield at least, it was forbidden from being played at one point, due to the criminal activities it attracted.

Quote:
Bassline has been at the centre of controversy in Sheffield due to a police raid on the former bassline club night Niche, after which the club closed down. Police raided the club amidst reports that the scene had been attracting violence, drug use and gang culture. Since it was the most popular bassline night in Sheffield prior to its closure, Niche is sometimes used as an alternative name for the musical genre. Like grime, bassline is still associated with violence, anti-social behaviour and criminal activity.

So are you telling me there's ILLEGAL drugs and activity surrounding these rave places? Or am I misunderstanding you?

You've never heard of raves? They were all the thing in the early 2000s. People do all kinds of illegal drugs there...ecstasy, acid, mushrooms, pot. The psychedelic stuff.

Gangster rap and bassline, the music is about money, power, sex and violence. It gives people with nothing an outlet. A way to get the things they want that they are lacking. This leads to gang culture, and honour and respect. Im not saying that everyone who listens to this music gets causght up in this, but I do honestly believe it plays a heavy part.

Rave music however is just people wanting to lose themselves and rediscover themselve. Raves themselves, are the same as most nightclubs, it is vision and sound sensory overloads on the human brain. Chuck in a couple of pills or some phets and you are gonna get as close to being God as is chemically possible.

However as Drugs are illegal, there is a crime back scene, however this is not the ravers themselve, they just wanna get loved up.

Gangster music however, is about Crime.

No I was just wondering. In the UK in the late 80's early 90's we had the Acid House movment which was country wide. The rave scene has always been a big thing in the UK. And it has caused a lot of the crime that happens, again, not all of it but it does contribute.
