Approaching half time and Uruguay lead 1-0. Incredibly the South Americans have conceded a single goal so far this year.

Uruguay lead 1-0 at half time. They are showing Argentina how you defend a lead...so far

Seems like I put the mocca on Uruguay. Nicely worked corner by Portugal but the resulting ball into the box was very badly defended. 1-1.

After 5 or so nervy mins Uruguay are back in front with a lovely taken goal by Cavani who gets his and his teams second. 2-1

Portugal asking a lot of questions, esp with crosses...

Looking like Messi and Ronaldo will be exiting the World Cup on the same day.

In the last 5 mins or so Portugal have been reduced to taking a series of low percentage shots from well outside the box.

Russia have just equalised against Spain. The penalty call was tough but fair...and just as importantly consistent with previous calls made during this world cup.

All credit to Russia but Spain have been disappointing for much of the first half. Their build up is just too slow when they find themselves with space in Russia's half.

4 mins of time added on...looks like we will be heading for extra time...

A couple of late nervous mins for Spain who have sloppily given away possession in their own half.

And so it's to be extra time. Russia parked the bus in the 2nd half whilst Spain huffed and puffed around the hosts defensive block but couldnt find a way through.

I would think extra time will be much the same. The Russians will continue to sit deep and try to hang on for a penalty shoot out. The longer extra time goes without Spain scoring the more desperate they will get as they wont want the match to go to penalties.

For the first time in world cup history we may well see 4 subs made by a team in a single match.

Half time in extra time and the score remains 1-1.

You could have got bloody good odds on Russia taking this game into extra time. Their defensive efforts have been very good.
