Oh , that's right , I nearly forgot that spinkie lets you speak for her. so thanks for explaining away her rudeness and crappy attitude.
Yes minorities prefer to be identified as individuals.
some prefer to called African American , some take offence at being called African American , while others prefer to be called black and still others are offended at being called black. while still others refuse to be called anything except American .....
so I post that after spending some time researching the topic and learning that African American is acceptable by the majority , plus i came across a site dealing with all that was involved in the African American fight for civil rights in the 1960's , and followed the timeline back to when the Africans were being forcibly enslaved and removed from their homeland . added all this together and came to the conclusion that African American is considered PC , respectful and not racist by the majority . I found a few answers if you will , like this one .
"I'm part Black and I refuse to acknowledge the word African American for American born Blacks if white people aren't going to be called European American. Neither group are from this country. Both immigrated/enslaved.
A lot of Black people hate me for saying it, but I guess I just see it far different than they do."
leading me to believe my conclusion is correct, African American is acceptable to the majority.
Look, you or anyone else on this planet, can call me whatever the hell you want to! But DON'T think for one second....what you call me, is gonna somehow OFFEND me! Because it won't......I don't allow myself to get offended by anything someone calls me. You say you "believe" your "conclusion is correct?" well maybe for "the majority" as you put it.......but this bi-racial AMERICAN prefers to be called just an "AMERICAN!" I was born in this country, therefore what do you call a person born in America? I call them AMERICAN.....just like I am!
