I have a snag it program on my computer, so everytime I push the print screen button, my snag it opens up.

I guess it doesn't matter seeing as it works just the same.

hey guys, just a another added tip, toprint screen you sometimes need to press Ctrl and print screen together to make this work.
then you are free to cpaste into a word doc, or into paint for editing.
also there are a lot of free screen capturing software out there.

Print Screen is to take a screen shot of whatever you are looking at on your computer. Just press the

Print
Scrn
SysRq

Button, it will automatically copy the image, now you will have to paste on a document in order to view it (it can not be in notepad). Hope this helps.

Sorry I do not agree, jpegs can take layers and I would

1) Never change the photo that comes of the camera

2) Always make a copy and work on that if things go wrong you can always start again

I use photoshop CS I use jpegs and I use layers

and heres some more advice-when saving from paint if you want a smaller file size use the drop down menu in the save box and change the format from bitmap to either gif or jpeg

Actually, PNG would be better than either of those, since both gif and jpeg are LOSSY: gif has a very limited range of colours, while jpeg introduces artifacts in the form of 8x8 "boxes" of the image...

Oh I was wondering what that key does, lol I thought it was something to do with printing out documents.

Quite some time ago, it kind of did that: it printed out the text on the screen, since there wasn't any "Clipboard", or even Windows, in those days.

i'm using a laptop, and it's definitely not there. is there a shortcut i can use?

On some laptops this is ON the f12 key. On others it's below the f2 and f3 keys. On yet others it's on the insert key. So we can't know where it is on your keyboard: just search for images of "laptop keyboard" to see how many types there are.

Also, you could try the "On Screen Keyboard" from within the Start - Accessories - Accessibility menu.

Which reminds me. Alt + Print Screen copies only the topmost window.
