PC users only! I don't know how to do it with macs.

**edit:

Mac users press SHIFT+COMMAN+3

Will hear a camera shutter sound and jpeg will automatically appear on desktop.

Thanks whiter_light

I love the print screen button. A lot of people don't know what it is/how to use it though. It's not that hard!

The print screen button on your keyboard is a handy little tool. It allows you to copy whatever is showing up on your screen, whether it be your desktop, something online, etc.

Press the button to the right of the the F12 button on your keyboard. It should say "Print Scrn" and under it might say "Sys Rq"

When you press this, nothing will happen. It's similar to copying text using the ctrl+c. Except here, you're "copying" your screen. Nothing will show up until you paste it somewhere.

Open up a paint program of some sort (if you're using Windows the Paint program should be fine) and paste it into the blank screen. Then crop the image so it just shows what you want it to show

like so

and heres some more advice-when saving from paint if you want a smaller file size use the drop down menu in the save box and change the format from bitmap to either gif or jpeg

Yeah definitely. I always go with jpeg - png.

I've noticed that sometimes the pic changes color if you switch to jpeg in Paint though. What I do is after I've cropped the image, I go to Edit > Select All > Cut

Then I go to File > Save As and THEN I switch the file type.

Then I go back, paste the image I just cut, and then go to File > Save and it saves as a jpeg, without changing colors or being distorted or anything.

edit - I've since discovered png and much prefer this file type.

i would not recommend using jpegs as they loose quality over time. They are also falt images which do not support layers, i would use either RAW, TIFF or PNG but i do not think that paint exports to these.

They are still good for little things! I don't know how many people would layer a pwn or their points. But if you're going to do some graphics work, then go with this guy!

Weird! I've told tons of people how to do it and they've never had any difference in it!

For most it'll be next to F12, but if you're not seeing it, don't go crazy! You just have a different keyboard. It's there somewhere if you're using a PC.
