My dad has announced he's getting me an iphone. Anyone have one? Like it? Love it? Best/worst feature?

My friend has one, she LOVES it!
Don't think there is a worst feature to be honest, and she says the internet is the best thing.

He's better off getting a pocket PC phone, better features and some come with built in GPS and the operating system is Windows Mobile

Well, they are meant to be good, but as my sister pointed out, they don't even have 3G! Plus, we saw some in a phone store and because of the touchscreen, they have fingerprints all over them, so you'll have to work hard if you want to keep it nice and shiny looking.

My sister recommends the Nokia N95 8GB. I believe the N96 is either out or will be soon . . . .

They're neat, but the functionality is extremely limited.

Slow connection speeds, very very limited set of apps, etc.

I'd either get a superior 3G device with GPS and more apps or wait for the next version of the iPhone which will no doubt have these built in.

It's not really up to me though. He's decied I'm to have one and that's what he's giving me. I really thought he showed me some sort of gps feature on his. Maybe he has what you suggested above.

It has a GPS "type thing" but it sucks ass. Decent "real" GPS like on a Sanyo Katana or Moto Q 9C will get you a few feet of accuracy. These will know what block you're on and can give you real turn by turn navigation. Emily's Q 9C's navigation is every bit as good as my $250 Garmin Legend Cx and it includes realtime traffic.

The iPhone uses a triangulation trick from cell towers. It sorta gets you in the right neighborhood if there are several cell towers in close proximity.

Huh. His looked detailed, but then..ack, I'm horrid at really paying attention. Well, it'll be more fun to play with than my current phone I suppose.
