f***ing Word 2010

I hate it, I hate it.

I keep losing hours worth of work and I cant figure why.

I hate this damn document is huge and it has to be formatted, and f***ing hate all headers footers and sections.

An a message saying it can't open the document is not helping any, though its is slightly more helpful than "recovering" a blank document.

Actually I hate word 2007 too.

Only issues I've had with Word 2007, well MS Office 2007 in general, has been a lot of "not responding" going on. A lot of the time, it does eventually sort itself out, but some right-click menus don't work on the first try and lil things like that.

Everything was ok though until an update at some point - had issues with anything that involved graphics since...

I keep saving multiple versions of the document.
Because I learned from the first time it failed after making too many changes.

Then now my last version 4 would not open after lunch, and versions 2 and 3 are corrupted too, even though I opened them 2 or three times each already. No warning nothing ... just sorry word cant open your document...because there are unspecified errors somewhere in its content. too bad, next time try bending over while opening, it will make it easier to f*** you.



So now Im back to stage one. Where I've been for days. I just want to cry.

You tried saving them as PDFs as well? Could help???

Can you un-covert from PDF into back into word?

It a multi chapter document, with different heading and foot types, so it needs several section breaks. I guess I could move some of the repeatable info out of the headers, but still its about 150-200 pages total. Work is pooping out at about 50pages into working on it, but not at the same place, or even giving me an understandable error. If it is indeed something I am doing.

I have the text saved as well as printed copy so at least I dont have to recreate all that, its just the formatting.

I need it to be one document at the end. Right now it is in about 8, but I need the page numbers to be consistent throughout. There is a master table of contents.


If word would just work it supposed to it would be easy-peasy. I just can figure out why its being a little b****.

No idea, assume you can mess with PDFs within Word 2007 onwards, but I've yet to need to use it.

You tried another PC with Word on it

I was working on two different computers, the other day, but today it was just on computer. once the file is corrupted it won't open anywhere.

I hated 2007...2010 is pretty nice...whats the problem?

Do you want me to check about the PDF thing? I know you have to have special rights/access to PDF. Like PDF writer.
Can you write the whole doc and then format it after saving the whole thing?

Yeah I have Adobe acrobat 9 Pro on my machine, I usually use it for managing large scans, and converting a finished word doc to PDF so no one sneaks in and changes stuff right before printing. It has a lot of stuff that I haven't used before, and I think in the building I'm the one that uses it the most.

Yeah, I was thinking that my next attempt to make this work was to get all the text in first and save then start formatting, instead of doing both in the smaller sections.

And Picking a different header/footer style, while this one looks cool its really pissing me off.
