When I get out of bed in the morning, my feet and ankles are so stiff to the point where it really hurts to actually walk like a normal person? I end up walking about like a penguin (please don't laugh at me, it's horrible) until they feel normal again.

I've taken it to the doctor's where they gave me blood tests, x-rays and tested me for arthritis (I felt so old that day) and they found nothing... sent me away and I've not bothered to go back since because I figure I'll just get the same treatment.

Does anyone else suffer with anything like this and if you do, how do you avoid it? I swear I shouldn't be getting this at 19 years old

perhaps you are severely dehydrated in the mornings, try upping your fluids to 2 litres of water a day (you wee a lot at first but your body learns to absorb the water quickly) and see if your stiff joints are helped.

oh and BTW there is a thing called sero-negative arthritis which basically is an arthritis that wont show up on a blood test but i would try the fluid thing before worrying about that.

Ugh any more than 1.5 litres and I piss like a racehorse all day TMI?

I'll try it Treebs, thanks. It's a real big pain when the fire alarm goes off at uni in the middle of the night and I have to hop out of bed and run down the stairs

Try some of those sports drinks before bed, the ones with electrolytes in. Its worth a try anyways.

It's got to the point where I'll try anything to alleviate it because the doctor just won't do f*** all. It's a nightmare

Do you wear heels a lot?

I get the same thing for a few days after I've spent a night wearing them.

If when you awaken, you normally get up right away, - don't! Instead lye there, for a good 10 minutes or so, just slowly letting your body wake up, and in that time, rotate your feet and legs around; even lie on your back and move your legs in a bicycle movement. Alternate these movments...
I get this too from time to time, and find these things help big time.

I have this problem sometimes too. but I'm old.
I find that if I put something like ben gay on my back it helps. I use an organic one though and works just as well.

Did they test your vitamin D count? One of the causes of joint pain is being too low in vitamin D.
