my neck ges stiff and sore. it gets to the point I can't hardly turn my head. what are some quick fixes to make the pain bearable. also, is there anything I can do here at home to make the stiffness go away? I've tried heat and stretching but it doesn't help. any suggestions would be appreciated!

I've taken tylenol, it gets rid of the pain but not the stiffness. plus, I prefer not taking pain killers as much as I can being pregnant.

If someone is kind enough to give you a massage maybe that will help.

My Physical Therapist had me doing specific stretches for my stiff neck, one was to look straight ahead and bring my chin back as far as possible, hold it for 10 seconds, and then release slowly, repeat 10 times. That one seems to help me alot. If you do any stretches, make sure you go as far over as you can comfortably and hold for 10 seconds, the return very slowly, and repeat 10 times. I recommend that if you can, going to the doctor, and see if you can get a PT of your own, mine did wonders for me.

I have no insurance beyond for my pregnancy. wish I could. id like to know what causes it. I've had spinal injuries in high school and im wondering if this is after effects. just want the pain to go away.

It probably is, your injuries have forced your muscles to tense up to support your spine better, and they are becoming stiff because of the alteration in posture.

Go to a chairoprachter (sp?) if this is reoccuring, the he can probably do something to make it stop. In the mean time, I suggest IcyHot cream or patches and Ibuprofin.
Hope you feel better.

I can't take either. can't use Icyhot (skin allergy) and Ibuprofen isn't safe for my baby. I have seen a chiropracter as a teen and he said it was from having a large chest. I just don't see how that would make my neck hurt.

Having an above average chest will pull on your neck muscles causing strain and can cause other severe back problems. The only way to fix it when that's the case, usually is breast reduction surgery. That is possible.

Have you tried BioFreeze? Do you have an alergy to that too?

Aww... sorry. I know that's gotta suck.
Try going to another chiropracter, a second opinion is always good.

I'm so sorry that you are having neck problems. I have a problem with my fingers going numb while I am on the computer and I end up having to do neck exercises to stop that. Trying to do neck exercises may help your problem but I would do them slowly and only a few at a time. Start slowly and if the pain seems to worsten stop. I hope you can find something to alleviate the pain.
