From what I've heard of them Russia and Poland seem a LOT more civilized, developed, and better financed.
The costal part of Alabama is a destitute place.
I've not seen poverty like in any other part of the U.S.
A buddy of mine who grew up in Detroit and served a year in Baghdad said that the two are pretty similar. He said the major difference is Baghdad doesn't have enough water to run a proper sewer system so the whole city kind of smells like s***, otherwise they are pretty similar.
