I recall reading somewhere (last week, during a google-session) of a sort of secret-sequence of press-and-hold that did miraculous things... Try describing symptoms + ipod in a google search and see what pops up....

Did you use that iDump link that you showed me? When I used it, I was able to pull things off the iPod before I went through with a reset. Then I updated to the latest iTunes, and was able to copy most of those songs back onto the iPod....

The reset happens by itself, it happens regardless of what programs are launched.
and it only stays on for like two seconds before it resets.

Have you got a second USB connecting cord? You make have accidentally damaged the one you have, causing some sort of short... This could happen if the cord has been pinched or overstressed....

Sadly not, i believe it may be connected to the other problem i failed to mention however, it will not recognise the music and video which is on it.
Sorry, no idea why i left that out.

But, is it not a characteristic of the reset, that all material on the iPod is lost? If you manage to copy things into it, and it then resets with repeat-connection to a PC, you won't have any media to recognize, no?

It only started crashing after i resynced it (using winamp) so i don't think the reset is the problem at this point.

Then, you've just told yourself that the problem is somehow connected to using winamp..... about which I know nothing..
