They're putting human embryo's in animal eggs. That's just creepy.

don't have a problem with it in the sense that you don't care what they cook up in the kitchen so long as you eat, or you're perfectly fine with minotaurs running around.

LOL, bit of an exajuration there.

The purpose of the experiment is to create enough biological material to extract stem cells which can be used to remedy various illnesses and genetic defects.

Dont worry folks, they arnt nurturing the embryo's to consciousness.

And they arnt doing it to give folk wings, make cows smarter or create an advanced army of spider-people.

Its simply embryonic stem cell research. Hey, if your friends and family are diagnosed with MS, or various other diseases you coudl one day be thanking these scientists.

It is already illegal to culture human-animal embryos for more than 14 days, or to implant them in the womb of a woman or animal, and these prohibitions will remain in the new legislation.

Using cow eggs reflects a short supply of human eggs. There are also ethical difficulties involved in collecting human eggs for research, as the donation process carries a small risk to women.

Professor John Burn, a member of the Newcastle team, told the BBC: ?This is licensed work which has been carefully evaluated. This is a process in a dish, and we are dealing with a clump of cells which would never go on to develop. It?s a laboratory process and these embryos would never be implanted into anyone.

Fine by me.

Exactly treebee, Im with ya.

Too many people hear the words human-animal, jump the gun, make silly assumptions and simply serve to advertise their ignorance of the actual facts in the situation.

By law they can't let it get passed a certain age, and definatley can't put it in an animal or human, it's just the fact that they could if some mad scientist wanted to break the law for the sake of research. But that's science fiction stuff, I was just trying to get some convo going, one lined answers are boring. And they always say this kind of research is for illnesses and what not, that's just a cop out because all this cool stuff we can do and no illnesses are getting cured. But it's science right? Some good is bound to come of it. And furthermore, you know they aren't going to be 100% honest of what's really going on.
