This is one of those caese where the book is much better than the movie, just to let everyone know.

I have not read the Bible from cover to cover, but I have read some of it and grew up going to church so I know most of the stories. I should read it more often though. Anyway, If you are wanting a Bible to read, there are always ways of finding them. Check out this site and you can get one for free: https://usa-bibles.com/?id=6764

It is an awesome book. There has never been one better and never will be! Just my opinion!

I have read it from cover to cover, many times as a matter of fact. It is a excellent book with a lot of really great stories. There's lots of wisdom in what it says in there, if you can not take it literally. I don't think the bible was ever meant to be taken literally. It's stories we are meant to learn from, and take the morals of the story not the literal meaning.

I wonder why she thought it was a bad idea? I think it has some really great lessons to be learned.

Now don't get me wrong, I am not pushing religion on people, when I read it, it was because it was the only book left on the shelf I hadn't read yet, and I was bored. I started reading it, and I got sucked in. I was pretty young, and I don't think I even understood what religion was yet. I think people should read it, not to be "closer to god" or whatever, but because it's just a really good book!

I read bits of it now and again, but I've never read it all the way through. I did have a copy, but I haven't got a clue where it is. I might try to find it.

well, i dunno if if she really thought it was a bad idea, but she did give up on it. i just remember as a kid, questioning everything she was reading and i think it pissed her off (or frustarted) her because she didn't know how to handle it, or she didn't know the answers to the questions i was asking herself.

i did go back just a few years ago and try to read it, but i have trouble reading things with an open mind, and once again i didn't get very far.

i do agree that there are good lessons to be learned by it tho, that's why i have my son to go to church every sunday with my mother-in-law.

I don't read the Bible, nor do I turn to it in times of despair. I don't want to say that I am bored of the Bible, but after many years attending a Catholic school, I think my understanding of its teachings is good enough that I don’t need to turn to it for guidance. My dad reads the Bible all the time, though. Not that he's religious or anything...
