Ok, so I finished reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows yesterday. I finished it in less than two days; I just couldn't put it down. All in all it was an exceptional piece of literature and I extend my congratulations to the incredibly talented Ms. Rowling. Kudos. Anyways, I thought I'd put down my opinion of my favorite chapter of the book which was entitled The Prince's Tale. In this chapter, Severus Snape is truly unmasked and the real pain and longsuffering he had to go through at the hand of James Potter is depicted down to the detail. I never expected Severus to have done everything he did out of love. It was very interesting to see how, during the transcourse of the series we were taken through different stages when it came to how we felt about Severus Snape and by the beginning of the last book, we were certain that he had extended his betrayal beyond all possible realms of forgiveness. In this chapter, nevertheless, Ms. Rowling brings us to yet another stage in which Severus Snape is depicted as he truly was: A man desperately in love with Lily Evans, A man who, even after her untimely death, continued to love her as desperately as he had the day they rode in the Hogwarts Express for the first time together. Severus Snape lived a life full of memories that never were. He lived a desperately lonely life; in love with the mere memory of the woman whom he would never be able to lay eyes on again. Lily Potter had turned away from him because of his attractions to the Dark Arts. She left him before she was ever even his and married a man who, since Snape's own childhood, had always caused Snape pain and humiliation: James Potter, Snape's nemesis and, all too often, his tormentor. Although Snape never was able to forget her, he hated James Potter all the more, and it shows just how much of a brave man he was that he was able to follow through on Dumbledore's instructions to kill him in order to protect the son of the man he hated so much, Harry Potter. Severus Snape proved himself to be coureageous beyond all possible value and to have loved Lily Evans with all his heart when he murdered the man he looked up to as a father in order to seal Harry's fate in defeating Lord Voldemort. Severus Snape was truly worth more than anyone could have seen thorugh his veil of secrecy and distaste. He was, I believe, a man with a heart of gold whos hapiness was thwarted time and time again.
Love, ??RubyLights??
(Go to Google video search and type in Almost Lovers. There should be an animated video that say Severus and Hermnione, but she's really Lilly Evans. Enjoy)
