Eluveitie

Viking metal isn't really a defined genre, it applies mainly to lyrical style, and you might not like all these band who sing about Vikings.

Tyr
Ensiferum
Windir
Thyrien
Thyrfing
Moonsorrow
Falkenbach
Enslaved
Turisas
Bathory
Vintersorg

try those out.

There's no such thing as "Viking Metal". Even Amon Amarth say that they are NOT a Viking Metal band. Most Black Metal bands are influenced by Norse mythology and write about such, but it doesn't make it Viking Metal. It appears that most "metalheads" today need to dig deeper into the true meaning and origins of metal before they should claim to understand it *coughFidgetcough*.

If there was ever such a thing as quote/unquote Viking Metal, it would be Immortal, early Enslaved and Bathory's album Blood, Fire, Death. Amon Amarth truly suck.

there is all kinds of music out there that is influenced by norse mythology not just black metal even bands like dragonforce sing about vikings. I guess that the category of viking metal is very very vague and that is why so many bands have gotten lumped into it.

What I wanna know is, if a member of a Viking Metal band dies, does he get a Viking funeral?

Look up Windir.

The guy responsible for them, Valfar, was walking home from a bar one night and got caught in a blizzard and froze to death. A tragic loss for metal.

Dilemma.

Arsis - We Are The Nightmare (Tech-Death)

Anorexia Nervosa - Mother Anorexia (Black)

Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thunder God (Death)

Paradise Lost - Say Just Words (Gothic)

Hibria - Steel Lord on Wheels (Power)

Now, not everyone will like all 5 of these bands, though they're all metal. As someone with over 20,000 music files on his computer, over 15,000 of which are metal if someone asks me to recommend them a metal band because they heard another metal song they liked, the odds of them liking it are much slimmer than if they told me that they heard a song by Rhapsody, a Power Metal band, and wanted to hear more songs that sounded like that, considering how diverse of a genre "metal" tends to be. no other genre has such a huge range of sounds. I could easily randomly pick 40 songs from my computer, and the Rhapsody fan could easily hate every one, if they're more reminiscent of Anorexia Nervosa up there than say, Hibria.
