I read this somewhere and, me being atheist, I found this very interesting and probably true...it pretty much sums up my views anyways:

"The god many Christians believe in isn't the actual god, it's a personal god they make up in their head whenever they need something. It's a petty little god that helps them with mortgages and turns the other way when they cheat on their wives, stiff the waiter, or fight with their loved ones. Many Christians are far less forgiving and much more judgmental than those of other faiths that I, personally, know. In fact my Jewish friends (granted only two) are as open-minded if not more accepting of others' beliefs than the Buddhist I know (us Americans and our silly ability to worship other dogmas and judge those who don't think like us). I know many Christians who believe in free will, but are vehemently against abortion, even hating those who have had or would have one. I know many Christians who denounce gay rights, who have even 'joked', so that it's 'okay', that AIDS is a gay disease. I know Christians who judge women for having had multiple partners in their lives, women who have fallen in love over and over again only to find it wasn't to be, being judged by these people who have never said 'I love you' to any partner they've been with and demonize sexual interactions. All the while being the product of sex between their mother and father. At least in America, it seems to me, our Christians are very narrow-minded people.
The god many Christians believe in isn't the actual god, it's a god of sheep."

btw this was not by me...

religion is bulls***, satanism isn't a religion as such, a belief more likely. that is so true..... i couldn't agree more.

Hmm...sounds more like religion bashing to me.

I see in America that the Atheist movement is trying their hardest to get religions squashed out, making them as bigotted as the people they call bigots.

Not that all atheists are like that. I was one for many years...no hatred to the faiths....just saw me as future bag of manure.

there are a lot of very good christians out there, we dont hear about the good any more though, the extremists appear to be much more interesting media fodder.

yeah those are all good points.
What I thought was so true though was the whole bit about the whole god of sheep bit...I believe that the god christians believe in is a reflection of themselves, and they kind of make it up to comfort themselves.

I was taught in school run by Nun's and Christian Brothers. I never related to the stuff they taught so I blocked it out and I know very little of the bible.

When I was in Grade 5, I found myself starting to draw heathen symbols that they have been conditioned to see as Satanist. I got questioned on it and so on but they could see I had no idea what it was, just that I felt good, safe and strong drawing them.

Lucky I wasn't burnt on the bonfire

My personal opinion is any beleif of an existence held after death is a clutching at straws, it is for those unable to accept thier own mortality.

I dunno aye...I kind of don't see how something can just cease to exist...but then again I do believe we're mortal.
don't ask how that works haha cos I don't really know how to explain it...

Personally i beleive that the arguement has no basis. Personally i disagree with mass religions as they are the creation of socialisation of the past and just keep social status, i.e the rich are rich and the poor are poor but thankful.

My take on it is that there is a god it is just that you must trust in something that has no basis in reality. If you are willing to believe that not all things can happen by chance then surely there must be a god.

Satanism is a religion as to first disagree with a thing you must form an idea of the thing in your mind. You cant think of something that is without reason and so Satanism is not an option in the 21st century for me.

True the god many people follow is a god of sheep but there are those that beleive of god out of personal discovery not ordered to or because they are searching for a reward of quick easy "Ohh my life is all good at once".

So no i disagree with the article on the basis that Christians have a more leniant opinion on many things like they allow IVF, but yes i agree with the article on the basis that religion that is forced is also false.
