I will reiterate.... Giving is not surrender. Giving up is surrender. There is a big difference between the last two sentences. One act is a result of defeat the other is an act of charity.
Neither have to be from defeat. And I don't think I am twisting any meanings. I was using words that were there. I was simply stating them a different way.
But even still. If giving SOMETHING is not an act of surrendering something, what is it? Like, for instance, giving someone a gift for their birthday. Its not like you were planning on keeping it in the first place, so its not "giving up". But it is surrendering the item to that person's responsibility. You are trusting that they will use it wisely, and not break it anytime in the near future. Right? Surrendering is a very vague word, I know. It has as many meanings as that three letter word "bow". Some think its a part of a ship, some an action for accepting applause, some a little thing spiffy people clip to their suits.
"Surrendering" is a grey word. I know that many people have trouble with the idea that God wants us to completely surrender to Him, not as "defeat", but giving themselves up to him. Even though we aren't really ours in the first place to give up. I have a friend who recently found out that her life is not her own. She is all but owned by the state. She can't choose what she wants to do in the future. Someone will plan out everything she gets to do in life.
If there are any more questions, I love them, as always. May take a while to get back; hard to get at a computer over the weekend.
