It appears this all started when a school included notes in it's evolution textbooks which declared evolution to be a theory not an established fact, and though they were prosecuted for doping so, the ones who accused them eventually settled out of court after the courts acquitted them. I read that this evening but couldn't find it again, however if I do I'll post the link to the story in here as well.

What happened to separation of church and state?

I feel sorry for the kids in Texas. They will be getting only part of the story.

Creationism theory should be discussed at home and at churches not in public schools unless it is part of a history class studying different religions.

Texas has one of the worst educational systems in the US. They always rank in the bottom 10%.

Jesus, that is sad. It's disappointing to think that people this stupid can get into positions of such responsibility, and the kids suffer for it.

And sadly, Jesus has everything to do with it.

Seemingly so, I don't recall ever hearing about Buddhists, or Hindu's, or even Muslims trying to change a public school curriculum to the detriment of everybody else's kids that are mandated to attend school.

No, actually He doesn't. It's the idiots who claim to speak for Him.

Critics of evolution said they were thrilled with Friday's move. "Texas has sent a clear message that evolution should be taught as a scientific theory open to critical scrutiny, not as a sacred dogma that can't be questioned," said Dr. John West, a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute, a Seattle think tank that argues an intelligent designer created life.

Too bad they don't allow creationism/intelligent design to be open to the same type of scrutiny. More backhanded hypocrisy that does nothing to advance the frontiers of education. Which in turn does severe harm to America's children and their ability to be innovators in the future.

This is just ridiculous.

Evolution should be taught as a theory. That's what science is. However it should not be taught as a theory so that some bulls*** like creationism/intelligent design can rise in its stead. That serves no one but the idiot bible thumpers.
