Salute to the Sparrow
Little sparrow do you know?
That the Saviour long ago
Spoke of you, spoke of you.
That He sent His servants forth
Much as sparrows of the earth
Two and two, two and two.
That He sent them every place
Two and two before His face.
But He warned them they would be
Counted worthless such as ye.
Sparrows two - a farthing worth!
Public nuisance in the earth
Sparrows two, sparrows two.
Cherry chipper little things
God has gifted you with wings.
Should cold earth your spirit blight
To your haven you take flight
Nought discouraged you still feed
On the kernel of the seed.
Chipped away all husk and dross
Like God?s bearers of the Cross.
Little one oh do you know?
There?s a God who loves you so.
That He watches over all
Knows your every rise and fall.
Numbered every single hair
Oh such care, oh such care.
At God?s altar finding rest,
Faithful giving of your best.
