So what did Jesus say that was so bad ... that warranted getting stone ..
Bottom line ... what would they have told their buddies as to why they stoned him if they did?

Nothing, but they tried to make it look like blasphemy, in the same way that so many try to make bible truth seem false.

Their "buddies" would simply have been delighted to have had Jesus out of thier hair, I doubt they would have questioned how or why.

And do you have any scriptural evidence to suggest this?

I am fairly certain that ...

If he did not commit blasphemy then then they would not have picked up stones.

John 4:18 On this account, indeed, the Jews began seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath but he was also calling God his own Father, making himself equal to God.

That scripture not only says that they were trying to get rid of Jesus, but suggests that they had been for some time.

Some translations say "persecute" rather than kill, but since the punishment for blasphemy was stoning to death that also suggests a murderous intent.

Of course they "got him" in the end, thanks to Judas, but it took them time because they realised he was becoming so popular with the general populace that they may have had trouble doing so.

So is Jesus just another angel to you?

And does an angel sin by saying that God is his father?

No, He was and is the Archangel, God's only begotten son, the only work which was solely of God's own hand, the master-worker who worked alongside his Father fro millennia helping in the creation of everything else. He is the one who shepherded Israel and now shepherds those of us who choose to follow the example he set here on the earth. He is the greatest teacher there has ever been. He is the reigning king for all those who wish to serve under him. He is the founder of the true Christian Congregation, our mediator with God and very importantly he is the one who agreed to come to earth as a human, not only to try to draw the Jews back to God, but also to set up a new Israel of God that was based on the remnants of the original, but to expand out to include people from the nations which had been ignored, of necessity, for a while, and thus bring them into a living earthly brotherhood.

Having said all of that, the biggest and best "job" he did was to, whilst in the form of a perfect human, suffer and die so that God's purpose could be fulfilled, and we humans could, once again, have the prospect of the perfect life on a restored earth, free once again from our slavery to sin and death.

Oh no, he is not "only" an angel to me or to people like me. He is the one to whom we owe, as God's second in command, everything we have now, and the prospect that is now in front of us to be part of the final fulfilment of God's original purpose.

Very very special indeed.

And so is he supposed to be worshipped or not?
