Let me get this straight. Tax rebates for the wealthy? No problem, keep 'em.
Tax rebates for big oil? No problem, they deserve 'em!
Tax savings for the low & middle class? SCREW 'EM!

Tax savings for the low and middle class?

The poor DON'T pay income tax to beging with.
Most of the middle class don't either and what little IS actually collected from them is trivial.

The bottom 53% of wage earners in the U.S. pay ZERO income tax.
The vast majority of the taxes collected by the IRS comes from the top 10% of wage earners.

Therefore real tax cuts of any kind will go primarily to the wealthy.

That article is BULLs***.

The article was written by Charles Babington who has a long history of producing anti-Republican hit pieces.

He is a master of hyperbole, distortion and the out-right lie.

Shino, you're always better off putting things in quotes so people can respond better to what exactly is creating the stir. Just posting a nameless link only garners BS like the responses you've been getting, as all they have to go by is your opinionated title, and many don't want to click on a link anyways.

What the issue is about is regarding the payroll tax cut that Obama passed (through Congress) for this 2011 year - his last stimulus measure. Instead of a $400 income tax rebate, as previously done, a 2% reduction was placed on the social security deduction that everybody pays - going from 6.2% to 4.2%.

This is set to expire Jan. 1, 2012.

Obama wants to extend this stimulus, of course, but many Republicans do not, hence the outcry in the article you posted. Those in the outcry are claiming the Republicans to be hypocrites, having taken such a hardline stance on extending the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, yet wanting to end these Social Security tax cuts on the low & middle class.

What is worse, they say, is that a few Republicans are even saying that the reason is the toll the less revenue would have on the debt.

Sound familiar?

I think it was Rupert Murdoch or somebody like him who recently said the rich could stand to pay more taxes. Then why doesn't he just send in more money instead of waiting for tax increases? If the government collected any more taxes from anyone, they would just flush that money down the toilet and ask for more.

Yeah, I keeps forgetting that most of the Obama-haters only can read picture books!
I'll try harder to find something more on their level!

No, its not that, it is just that people don't care enough to click on a link and read through it. They want it presented to them then and there, in view.
