Hi people. I'm 13 years old and became a Goth when I was 12. Can anyone be too young to be Goth? I need your impartial views on this because I am just curious.

Also: (if you are a Goth) how old were you when you became one?

Thanks and please reply.

No, i dont think age comes into it, its all about a matter of understanding. If you follow the set of norms or near to the set of norms that those who are classified as a goth follow then you could be classified as a goth.

I considered being a goth when i was 16 but i did not agree with the whole thing so i kept away and just was myself.

This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Farewell; my blessing season this in thee!

I don't really know, it's just I wanted to see it from other people's point of view about being goth.

It's not so important what you classify yourself as.
but i'm not going to say 'be yourself' or any of that crap.
I totally dig the whole goth style,
you're old enough to appreciate these aspects of your personality,
i wish you the best.
saying that, i'm always pretty wary of stepping into the bounds of
any group expression of taste or style.
there's as much pressure in goth circles to stay true to the gothness ( )
as there is in other social groups.
no clique is the embodiment of self expression, thats a contradiction.
you're young so don't be so quick to label yourself.
....i want to be encouraging though,
your desire to to be and confidence about being outside established norms
speaks volumes about you.

being goth is a statement that only you should make on your own. to do so is a commitment to black hair, black finger nails and most of all pale skin. so i would'nt recomend going goth if you are a sun worshiper. Go 4 it!!

I consider myself a dark person. I don't use the label Goth. Yes, I do have Goth-like pics and avatars, on this site and others.
<===
But I don't feel the need to dress a certain way to be who I am.

I've been that way since I was 14,15. I didn't like the 'mainstream' look of every other teen around. I hung around with the 'headangers/mots' in H.S. Also, in that sense, I didn't have to deal with the typical 'preppy snot' in H.S.(members in forum excluded )

I did the black clothes, tried the black hair, looked sickly(though that's what Goths' 'must' look like to be a 'true goth' as some would say). Never did the pale make-up, black eyes or black nails.

Nowadays, I dress 'normal' as you could say, but still retain that 'innner darkness'. Working in an office and dealing with the public on a daily basis, doesn't fair too well if you look like a corpse. Don't get me wrong. There are a lot of people/jobs where it's perfectly fine too look anyway they want. Kudos to them!

For ME it's all 'Inner Goth'. I don't need the outside to look a certain way to be a certain way.

All the best to you, be who you want to be, dress how you want to dress! To hell with what others think/say!

(I'd much rather see millions of 12-16,17yrs old Goths around, then more chickies wearing too short or too little of anything )
