Perhaps you never met an atheist or don't know quite what they believe. Now's your chance to ask the atheist! Post your question and an atheis will respond.

Are you certain, beyond any doubt, that no supernatural creator exists?

Is that not, then, a position of faith? There is no proof of God's absence, is there?

Sure, it could be a position of faith.

What a comprehensive and full answer you've given me there. Asking the Atheist is so enlightening.

My point is, atheists tend to flaunt their self-proclaimed infidelity and condemn religious people for their blind faith, and yet their position is equally as faithful as that of the theists they oppose. Agnosticism is surely a more rational perspective.

Well from a purely rational perspective agnosticism is the most rational. Though the atheist viewpoint is also based on a lack of any empirical evidence whatsoever, as well as some evidence that does contradict certain religious texts.

And from the perspective of hypothesis testing (something used in science all the time), you assume that something is NOT true until you get evidence to the contrary.

How did life begin in the universe?

Life began randomly as molecules came together within localized systems fueled by external energy from the sun.

The dubiousness of religious texts is undoubtable, but has nothing to do with the actual existence of God, just the truth of religious traditions. You are right in supposing that all religions are fundamentally incorrect, but wrong to be certain about God's absence.

That works both ways: the hypothesis that God does not exist is not necessarily true until disproved. Since no strong evidence exists either way, neutrality is wise.

Ultimately, God's nature must be absolutely nothing like any religious traditional supposition, if God does indeed exist. So don't lose sleep over it.

That's not a hypothesis.

It's not a guess based on observable evidence, and it's impossible to affirmatively prove a negative hypothesis.

Why do you believe, beyond reasonable doubt, that there is not a god?
