Impressive effort thus far by Atletico Madrid...to be level on points with Barca and ahead of Real when financially they have no where near the resources has been a fair effort...

You a hammer too? How is it trying to watch matches in Australia? I know there's a West Ham pub and a load of hammers who drink there in Brisbane, they have matches on the telly there live at all sorts of funny hours, a couple of years ago there was even a bit of an off with a load of Spurs supporters there.

i dont go for the hammers myself but i could imagine lots of hammers fans getting hammered in the pub!

United have an aging team and have needed reinforcements for a couple of years now. Sir Alex was the reason for the title winning team of last season. I was behind David Moyes when he first joined but over time he doesn't seem upto the job. The image yesterday evening of him sat at the back of the dugout with a look of hopelessness on his face. I have lost the faith i had in him. He will need to make some big purchases and change from the 'everton' mentality

I can understand the criticism of Moyes. For united its been a woeful season. Now seems Moyes is blaming the squad he inherited by saying its too old. You dont go from wining the title by 11 pts to being some 15-18 pts off the pace just because the players are a year older. Hell they were only months older when the new season started and yet right from the off something didnt seem right.

That said i think Moyes needs to be given another season to prove himself. He had time before the season began to reshape his squad and his few signings were uninspiring. He then had january to make further changes. So give him another two transfer windows to create the squad he wants before judging him...

On an altogether different matter it looks like hearts will soon be joining gers in the championship next season...and it may be Hibs that tonight send them down!

before the season started i really thought it would be a two horse race btw chelski and city with united thrid and arsenal, tottenham and Liverpool fighting it out for the final champions league spot. Never thought united would tumble so dramatically and have been very pleased to see the Reds maintain their form so deep into the season

It's been a hell of a season in the La Liga with Atletico Madrid currently top, just ahead of giants Barca and real. When you consider the vast differences in resources its been a very impressive effort by Los Colchoneros

The fact that they were champions last year has more to do with Sir Alex's motivation powers. He could have won the title with anyone within a few years and is one of the few that would have success wherever he went (Morinho and guardiola also) The team has needed a complete overhaul for a few years. Vidic and Rio are slow but have the occasional good game. Rafael is good but reckless, Evra is old and again can be reckless in defence. Young is inconsistant. Carrick has lost alot of what made him great. Cleverly.... Valencia was good but again has tailed off Nani...why was he given a 5 year contract?? the forward line is well stocked if you look at Rooney and RVP but hernandez and wellbeck haven't exactly set the world alight.

The squad that was left to Moyes is aging and some are just not upto it. I agree he needs to be given time as blaming him for Fergusons mistakes is not fair

so who do you think will win the champions league?
There is a fair chance that for the second year in a row there will be no epl side in the last 4. Spain will almost certainly have two teams in the last 4 whilst France and Germany are likely to have one team each.

After last night Chelsea will find it difficult. PSG have a good side and will be able to score at stamford bridge if they need too. United have a really good chance. Their best performances have come in the champions league this year and the last time they were in germany they won 5-0 granted it wasn't against Bayern but still. Bayern have lost on home soil to Man City and Arsenal in recent years and they have as good a chance as anyone of getting through. Real i think are the favorites to go through in their tie as they have a 3-0 lead. Barca and Atletico is harder to call as Barca are not the team they were a few years ago. Guardiola made them what they were and he is now doing the same at Bayern. I think Dortmund will go through tho as they were finallists last year and haven't lost anyone apart from Goetze. They will struggle next year tho when lewadovski leaves
