As a rule I like to think I only eat what I am happy to kill.

If I dont think I could kill it myself then I dont eat it. As long as its done humanly and as less stressful for the animal as possible

I think we'd all learn "kill what you need" and "don't kill it unless you're gonna eat it". We'd also learn to be thankful for what we get, since if you had to hunt for your food you'd actually appriciate the animal you've killed, and it would be much harder to get food then just nipping down to the local store and getting a ready-slaughtered cow or something. And we'd waste less

I've thought about this before too, Maxi..
and honestly, if I had to kill it, (aside from fish), I know I never could. So therefore, I would live on fish, and veggies

I'd miss only chicken, which I love.
I know you said meat, and chicken is fowl, but I just couldn't kill the poor little things after seeing their eyes..I'd have night mares!!!

Yeah, but the fish seem to be more without "emotion", lacking expression in their eyes..that I think, would make it easier..
if not, I'd be a vegetarian

You are talking about the hollistic approach which is what river cottage chef hugh fearnley whittingstall is trying to get across to people, that we will have greater respect for the animal and use all availiable parts rather than waste it.

I actually like this idea. It is inpractical for most families who have to live from the happy shopper or farm stores brands because they havent enough cash.

But in principal, i think i could probably only kill poultry. I seriously doubt i could kill a cow, pig or sheep. I would probably be able to shoot a rabbit.

I do think that hunger plays a big part in human nature and faced with hunger a lot of people will suprise themselves with the animal instincts they had no idea they had.

Although i cannot see myself with a gun against the head of a lamb, i would imagine after a certain period the doe eyes and cuteness will not affect me in the same way with an empty stomach.

NO!

Fish have families and they get married and... and... they have babies and love them! It said so in Finding Nemo!

*runs away crying*
