A majority of humans like eating meat due to the iron content and lack of better things to eat, there are also no long term side effects of eating meat i have been eating meat my whole life and i have not had any illness due to eating meat.

I think most people like to eat meat for a wide range of reasons. However, as the author of the opening piece suggests, when we decide to eat someone else, food choices are moral matters, quite separate from issues like long-term effects.

My Veggie and vegan friends say they HAVE to take vitamin supplements, Vit B12 in particular as its extremely difficult to get this vitamin from any other food source, I believe (correct me by all means) that a lack of it causes Anemia and Nerve problems?

I guarantee you that if you buy meat from a supermarket it will be quite safe. As a matter of course all the supermarket buyers carry out extensive tests on all the meat that is supplied to them and carry out unannounced visits to the slaughterhouse farms and every step of the way with regard to transportation of the livestock.

Samples of meat are sent away to microbiologists to check for pathogens and any other impurities long before that meat ever hits the shops.

As for them not caring what we eat, well that's true to a degree, but what they do care about is money, and if they got caught passing on contaminated meat they would be shut down and bankrupt in a week. Besides inspectors always attend at slaughters to ensure that the contamination mentioned in that article never happen's.

If you really want to scare yourself silly, take a closer look at the ingredients in your vegetation sauces etc, I know first hand the stuff that goes in there. Some of that stuff is so dangerous that operatives have to wear breathing apparatus and full body suits when using the stuff!

B-12 is an issue for many people. It seems to be the case that most people with B-12 deficiencies are non-vegans. B-12 is derived from bacteria, so it can be obtained from non-animal sources.

Whether vegans have to have it is a controversial issue within the vegan community. Lack of B-12 is indeed a serious issue.

A nonhuman animal is not a thing, he or she is a someone.

Of course, in law, nonhuman animals are regarded as legal things, albeit sentient things - sentient property.

From the point of view of animal rights philosophy, nonhuman individuals are regarded as persons (not "people," but moral persons).
