Is being responsible for shaping our own purpose something to be daunted by or is it freeing? Should we "dwell in the quietism of despair" or relish the chance to define ourselves by the use of our own agency?

Good thing? MY PURPOSE: I want to be a good mother and provide for my son everything that he needs. Sometimes a few luxuries.

Bad thing? I think, my mom and dad spoils him a lot, because if he can't get it from me - cause I want to be strict at times - he still gets what he wants from mom or from dad.

Why? I think, everyone has a purpose, but we need to find out what our main goals in life are, in order to examine ourselves what our real purpose is all about.

Religious implications? Sometimes, you ask God if you're making the right decision, I do that. I want to strive to be a good mother, though at times I think I could do much better. There are still some regrets.

It is freeing, actually! I want to define myself and be with others, because they can attest who I really am. I want to open up and say what I feel, because that's how people get to know you.

Good thing - we have no purpose because we are the purpose.

I agree we have no purpose.

I don't know whether it's a good thing or a bad thing, I sort of view it completely neutrally. I mean I feel I'm governed by my own morals and ideas, not on some promised purpose or idea of reason just due to empathy.

From a religious point of view it it obviously damaging, but to me the whole reason I don't believe in purpose is the same reason I don't subscribe to religion.

I'm quite happy being 'free' as it were.

I thought I was discussing it,nihilism is just as valid as any other philosophy! Or is it that I am not using puffed up language!

But by being so there must be some implications?
