Well, in the purely physical sense yes it is, just a collection of pages - originally scrolls of course - bound together into folio form.

What is so different isn't the book, that can always be replaced, it is the knowledge, the wisdom from God that it contains. Advice and examples, as well as the knowledge of God's personality and plans.

That knowledge means life, peace, happiness for all of the human race who take it in and use it.

Those of us who know the bible for what it is and love it, see it as a letter, a personal letter, from a loving father to His sons. It is not the book that we value, but what it can give us, and how it can allow us to grow close to our marvellous creator.

That knowledge is more valuable than the whole of the universe put together.

It is a way of living life so you dont have to think for yourself, like any other belief system. Until God is proven and at tat, the Christian God, it will always be a book.

And reference the scrolls, there are scrolls that arnt included. So it isnt even the whole truth. It is a biast selection of scrolls.

The Bible - Just another book?

Yes, it is. As an act of teenage rebellion I once took the Bible at my local library, and relocated it from the Reference shelves to the Fiction section.

It seemed to fit so much better there.

I reckon the first page, is one of the scrolls they chose not to include, the one that goes:

All characters appearing in this work are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

Though I'm not agnostic, I believe in their code.

In spite of my belief that it is mythology, I think it fair to say that it is not just another book.

It has had more impact (both negative and positive) than almost any other book ever written.

Yes , it has.

Those who have seen it the way they were supposed to have seen it as a book of wisdom and prophecy to guide us through life.

unfortunately all too many saw it as a way of controlling people.

Since the ones who took it seriously tended to be, as Jesus said they must, the meek and mild types, the others got the upper hand, and still have for the moment.

Not or ever though because when Jesus promised that the Meek will inherit the earth, he meant it, and it will happen in his Father's time scale.

Of course the only way the Meek will ever inherit the earth is if there are none of the others around to stop them. Hence teh prophecies of judgement and destruction.
