when the Spaniards officially conquered the Mexica people or the Aztec empire in 1521 they renamed stuff, with the "Mexico city" that we are now familiar with, but prior to that it still existed. the people still referred to themselves as Mexica. That was their word for their people in their native language.

They may not of had a flag, but that does not mean they did not exist.

As for the poll here all I can say is Mooooooooooooooo!

Rather than do the who-would-you-vote-for schtick, the Rasmussen Poll asked: ?Who?s Views Are Closer to Your Own??

Palin by a landslide.

Palin 52%. Obama 40%.

Among mainstream voters, Palin beat Obama 63%-28%.

Among the elites, Obama won 68%-30% OOOOWWWWWWWWHHHHHH!

I?m surprised that 30% of the political class agree with her over him.

The real reason people think she's dumb is because she's pretty. Although it doesn't always work out that way. It's the inverse of the same principle for why people pro'lly think Michelle is smart.

This kind of polling really pisses me off. This is a sample poll of 1000 people. I just can't understand how people can say "America has decided that Palin is better" when they only asked less than 0.0003% of Americans. So you saying that all mainstream voters prefer Palin is pure bulls***. The only poll that count are the actual elections and until they happen you can't predict whose going to win or lose (by the by some polling figures put the dems retaining the house and senate due to Republicans swinging to right whilst the dems become more centrist. America is a centrist nation so swinging either way doesn't help a party)

Edit: WTF TFS no points for that.

No polls aren't perfect, but they're getting more and more accurate, especially when they aren't weighted to favor a given outcome, and no body is suggesting that we do away with voting (disenfranchising the ignoramuses maybe). And Rasmussen has become the generally most respected polling organization, because it has been the most accurate. Just because you don't like the answer doesn't mean it's wrong--an example of a Paineful Truth.

Any definition of centrist is pretty much worthless. It's been shifting to the left along with the country's drift into socialism for the last 80 years.

Reagan followed Johnson, Nixon, Ford and (gag) Carter. His nickname was the Great Communicator and began to make the country feel that we could stop our long downhill slide, and did. But then he was replaced by Bush I, Clinton, Bush II and (gag to the max) Obama. She has the same communication skills and basic political beliefs as Reagan, and represents the same leadership for putting us back on course. Don't know that for sure yet, but I for one am watching closely.

One thing I'm watching for are comments like yours. Very encouraging.

See, I wouldn't think her communication skill where anything as good as Regan, and tbh... I think that Bush I was a great communicator himself. It was Quayle that ruined him

Palin, imo, and I fully admit this is only my opinion, is more akin to Quayle (from a communications standpoint) than she is to Regan.

But, once again, that's opinion. In fact that's what I do like about her, her 1. Ability to say human stuff that gets her made fun of, and 2. Her willingness to be made fun of.

I love the fact that she doesn't talk crap about people cracking jokes about her. It's one of the things I loved about Bush I and II and Quayle for that matter.

No, he was part of the power elite. He told us to read his lips and then he did it anyway. No compunction about lying, which makes him a lousy communicator. In fact, he argued against Reagan's tax cut in a televised Presidential debate in 1980.

Quale was also an establishment politician who was something of a bufoon, or at least he had a reputation as one. Give me two equally large auditoriums a block from each other with Palin and Obama speakiing at the same time and she'd out draw him 5-1...on a bad day. Right now, he can't fill a 1000 seat venue. There are a lot of reasons, but she may be the second most important reason that the Right is so energized right now. The first would be the catastrophe that's happening in Washington.

Most of that is the press and the Democrats. And little of the humor sticks, because she's just being herself. I even used a reference to one in the title of a thread I started, "I can see November from my house". She's showed that she had super leadership skills on the campaign trail and in Alaska--dumping establishment Republicans and getting stuff done that had been shrugged off by several previous administrations.

I don't like some of her religious stuff, but she's very similar to Reagan in that respect, keeping it mostly to herself. And economic collapse is our first order of business. She won't bring up abortion or whatever until later and we can cross that bridge when we come to it. Anyway, she may not be the best person for the job right now, but if not she's close, and it's another year yet.

1. Tax cuts, done wrong, are detrimental to any economy. They yield a short term gain, but in the long run make for a deficit. Just something I picked up from one of the people who worked for Reagan and is now saying that Republican tax cuts were a mistake (even though he helped create some of them)

2. I agree that lying is not right, however, when he wasn't lying, he was an effective, easy to understand, and held quite a bit of intelligence imo. Of course, I'm only a Bush Sr fan because Bush Jr made it clear just how bad things could be.

3. Yup and if you ask them both to spell potato I bet Quayle would get it correct before Palin would. (I hate using that example, though, I would love to have seen the card he had, I bet his only mistake there was that he had the "s" covered up in potatoes)

4. Obama comes to Ohio quite frequently. He has no problem getting a full auditorium here. In fact, his issue in Ohio, is that too many people want to go and see him, and don't get to. That's not media feeding me anything, that's my attempts to go see him getting met with the answer of, there are no seats available. That's my friend working or attending classes where he is being seen having their day disrupted by the full on convergence of the area. In fact, the media here, just blurbs that he was in the area and that there were no significant problems that arose. If you went by media here, you would think that no one gives a s***.

I don't know much about how many Palin followers go to her things.... I don't know any! I mean that. In my real, everyday life. I don't know any one who supports or even likes Palin. I am the person I know who likes her the best.

5. I've seen the Republican party make fun of her. Isn't she the Tea Party now anyway.

WAIT I've got it! Palin is our next Ross Perot!

Oh it makes so much sense now!

Sarah Palin = Ross Perot + Boobs!

Communication is a important key and some high-power Democrats should sit down with their senior party members and leaders to adjust the PC knob. Right now the GOP and TP are getting out a more positive message and are showing respect to their base supporters.

Dems are having a bit of a problem there. Senator John Kerry just gave an interview to the Boston Globe in which he stated Dem voters are not very bright and don't understand the issues. Vice President Biden was interviewed over the weekend and stated Dem voters need to "buck up" and "stop whining". President Obama stated in an interview early in the week, referring to Dem voters, that "if people now want to quit and take their ball home, that tells me they weren't serious to begin with".

Of course, he evened out his tone by stating the TP was financed by special interests groups and was displaying anti-immigrant bias and some bigotry because of "what he represents as President".

All very uplifting. Kerry and Biden insulted Dem supporters and the President insulted everyone.

So we need to PC it up? No, we need to be insulting a*****es. Kerry is right, most Dem supporters don't know the issues, in fact, most voters don't know jack squat about anything that has to do with politics. I blame the media and the squandering of money on smear campaigning. Getting the word out about a candidate now consists of how much you can scare the people into liking you better. Obama did it, McCain did it, Palin is a master of it. And you know why, people aren't educated enough to look into the matters that they think matter most. They want it hand fed and don't want to know the gritty details about how and why things work they way they do.

Obama is right.... we say "Oh we want change" and we expect him to have it the second he takes office. All while we hear from pundants on FakeNews about how Obama doesn't take it seriously.

Clinton may not have been the most upstanding of men in his men, but this is actually a fair statement. And, truthful for that matter.

Every agenda, no matter what it is (honestly, I do believe that he could try and put in effect a tax cut system that mirrors the current Republican on and he would get a brick wall from the right) caught up in partisan bs and when we did pass something, it was so tore up just to get it to pass it wasn't even what it was supposed to be.

We want to blame Obama for the lack of anything going on, but in all truthfulness this is a work of many people trying to put forth their parties agenda. There is a collective blame, but your average voter doesn't see it that way. The president is little more than a talking head piece who tried to put forth ideas that are a collective thought process and see where he can get it.

Was it nice? No, but that's why it's the truth. Very rarely does one hear the truth and like that being said about them. (what was said about the Dems)

As far as the TP party. I don't have a clue how they are funded. I just know that everything I've heard out of their mouths so far has been things to scare people into siding with them, and I have very little respect for the leaders of the group.

Any politician who wants support has to consider whether his/her statements will work toward support or polarize people.

You are obviously only watching one news channel, and reading very few print articles if you believe this to be true.

The GOP and the TP have been very good about getting their base supporters out to vote, but they have been very bad about showing them respect. Think Scott Brown.. He's been a huge disappointment to the Tea Party and has even sided with Obama on issues that the TP hates.

The GOP and the TP have become very good at polarizing the country, and turning even the most trivial issue into an "us against them" argument.
While there are many out there that like that, there are just as many who hate it.

The trick is to find people who can work in the middle. A good politician is someone who can get stuff done that most people don't like or hate.
