It makes me laugh when I see pre ripped clothes in shops (now I ain't calling myself punk) I just like to stand out and thats pretty much what punk is these days. But pre ripped clothes really annoy me. The ripped clothes and saftey pins look really came from bands such as the sex pistols and was a revolt against socitiy. The punks of the time refused to support the Government by buying new clothes so 'fixed' the old ones with saftey pins and stiching. So pre ripped clothes sort of defeats the point.

Origionally punk was a term for a prostitute and then a term for a submissive male sex partner in prison. Now i'm not saying anyone is a poser or anything like that here becauase people can't help it if the punk they have been exposed to is commercialised. i'd just like to give you a bit of history of facts or whatever. Also warn you against the irony of pre ripped clothes.

tatty bye

i don't buy them, i'm too poor to follow fashion

My brother was a punk back in the pistols days, back when green mohicans where the normal sight up the town - i just think this time around the punk revival just lacks the same conviction the original one did, there is no real call for anarchy, no brixton riots, no miner strikes no real decent music like the pistols or stiff little fingers. Back then it was about being different, now it seems more like being the same

I remember being a little like you "miss t" when i was younger, angrier at everything especially the "Punk" which was around at the time.

You just have to not let it get to you, because if you do it'll make you really closed minded and not talk to anyone, but yeah pre-ripped jeans and whatever fashion that everyone likes are usually a bit stupid. Modern Day punk tho is the ultimate hypocricy i must admit.

I laugh when I see pre-ripped jeans and pre-"distressed" jeans. I usually throw my jeans away about when they get to looking like that, I certainly wouldn't buy them new in that condition!
