Studied really hard for a test and only got an 80 on it. Her tests are unnecessarily hard anyway. Either way, I'm super bummed out.

Beats getting an F after studying. I know it sucks, but you did well. Congrats.

A common phrase this time of year is: "Cs get degrees"

Once you're out of school. no one cares about your grades.

Of course, do your best, but don't beat yourself up for the sake of being mean to yourself. We are often kinder to others than we are to ourselves.

The only reason I care is so I can get into grad school, for which I need a 3.0 GPA. I have a 3.17, and that's being threatened by the C I already got in experimental psych...

Experimental Psych was one of the more difficult courses for me too.

Another common phrase among some seniors, especially ROTC guys, was "I've got a job!"

... I could brag too - my 3-summer-job at a U-Haul said they'd keep me on full-time. Knowing full-well at some point I was going to leave.
They got about 18 months out of me.

Wait ...

They don't show That in the movies.

Everything is all exciting, and drama, and action!

My academic adviser during my undergrad told me when he graduated from his undergrad, he worked at a sandwich shop and was convinced he was going to work there the rest of his life.

I'm still at my work study job from undergrad. some 20some years later.

technically no, I've moved up quite a bit, but it's the same college. I'd have to leave the city if not the state, to have a job in my field and expertise that is not my current one.

After graduation, the school you went to seems to be important to some. My degree from 'The Tijuana School of Medicine and all night dinner' does not hold the weight of a school like Johns Hopkins.

There's probably some clinics that'll be plenty for.

But isn't your degree related to your work?

My masters degree is.

My undergraduate degree is not. Other than you are required to have at least a bachlor's to work here, but the field is not too related.

Then again criminology has been useful in the library in the oddest ways.

I was never in my field of study, but my "almost engineering" degree got me in the door to two companies. Then this damn computer s*** sucked me in like a f***ing black hole and here I am!
...and the fact that I had a 4yr degree did help me along the way
