In this day and age I value my time above most things. I honestly feel rage when my private time is encroached upon by cold calling via door or telephone.

Its easy to say "dont answer" but the very act of knocking or ringing is an invasion of privacy.

I agree. I'm tempted to put a sign on my door that says, "DO NOT KNOCK!" My dogs go into a frenzy every time and sometimes I'm asleep when someone shows up unannounced.

I've got an answering machine for the solicitors and wrong numbers but I hate getting those calls. I turned the ringer off for a while and then decided I'd better keep it on in case of an emergency.

Im considering making a sign saying that I am not interested in cold calling. I fear it will be ignored like the "no junk mail" sign my neighbours have.

Yeah, I see those "No Solicitors" signs on people's doors but I've never asked if they actually stop the Jehovah's Witnesses from knocking.

I just let my dog out after them,they or the company tend not to return again.

In the UK we get a lot of competition from power companies and they are notorious for cold calling. I get so angry with them it makes me want to get solar panels

The problem is that when I open the door, my dogs get out and run down the street. It's very hard to get them back inside. My street is very busy and I fear they'll be hit by a car.

The pizza delivery people know me as the woman who tips and puts the check in the mailbox. They know not to knock. I just have them leave the pizza on the porch. It's very convenient. I'm also a hermit and this system works perfectly for me.

Seriously? I could see that if the thief was electrocuted to death, but not just a little "buzz" to shake him up. That seems unfair. What happened to the thief or the person who touched the car?

it wasnt enough to kill the theif just s*** the life out of him, and i think he got off scot free!
