What do you mean? like being able to forgive someone? If so, I'd say it depends on the situation.

Ok, I was somewhat vague, but I've pondered it on the way home tonight...

It's a virtue to be able to move on..
...however it's not a virtue to let things slide if they merit a degree of anger.

So like most things it's situational.

Virtue.

Flaw if you keep forgiving the same thing over and over.

Forgiving is a virtue, Forgetting is the flaw. Think about it.

I'll forgive you for that one, and forget it, lol.

Sorry, couldn't resist, but Cpt P has it in one, situational.
Can't be otherwise, it's a conscious/emotional action, and in and of itself very difficult to force, and so define or theorise about.
Just my two-bobs worth.

hm. "forgive; don't forget" :S: if you don't forget than you're really not moving on. thus, your forgiveness doesn't really count.

Forgive, move on. Don't remember!

*it just came to me ok*

Forgiveness is an essential part of the rehabilitative process; it permits the transgressor to redeem themselves and change their ways. If you treat a criminal as if they have a permanent taint, and will never change their ways, then they probably won't.

Yes Erimitus,

Not forgiving yourself is certainly the other side of the coin, which I affectionately call the blame game.

I prefer to see everything that happens to be a good thing; a chance to learn. If someone hurts me, what in me facilitated that? The buck stops here.

You can cover the whole earth with leather to protect your feet, or you can put on a pair of shoes.

In order to forgive someone, first you must place blame.

Blaming others or oneself is an uncomfortable way to live, even though it may seem at first sight [knee jerk] seem to be some kind of a solution.

Anybody can say "I forgive you" but it's truly forgiving and moving past it that is a virtue.
