Belief in fantasy Gods. Literalists and Fundamentals.

It is my view that all literalists and fundamentals hurt all of us who are Religionists.

They all hurt their parent religions and everyone else who has a belief. They make us all into laughing stocks and should rethink their position. There is a God but not the God of talking animals, genocidal floods and retribution.

Should literalists follow their Bible and pay attention to this quote?

1 Corinthians 13:11
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

Should they try harder to know God without fantastic, impossible creatures and miracles of all kinds?

Not to be rude but should literalists and fundamentals not grow up and stop hurting religion?

But more to your point. I have a hard time taking some parts of the Bible absolutely literally. I believe some parts are literal, some are metaphorical (or however else you want to describe that), and some are situational.

I also agree with this statement.

Consider this.

The myth is of every child coming of age. A right of passage message.
We all grow up nice and comfy and safe at home/garden.
As we begin to interact with society/snake, we are assaulted by trends and customs from outside the home and must decide for ourselves what is good and evil as compared to what the home has taught us. The God figure is then representative of our own fathers and mothers.
Quite a simple coming of age myth that has been blown out of all proportion to cause the young to have doubts and gilts in order to have us, as young adult, move with more care as we enter society.

Just my take on where the myth came from. Nowhere else does the Bible myth show a right of passage yet we know rom history that all tribes had some kind of right of passage.

Thoughts?

bill maher owns all of you and will forever own all of you because he thought outside of the little box religion places you in. or perhaps it is a bigger box than what i may think as there are so many that dissappeared. since when was it okay to believe in burning bushes etc but not believe that the world can change? and if you believe it take the bee out of believe (chase it out of the bonnet)so that it is no longer a lie and simply live it.
