I tried to install a secondary hard drive then when i use the software that came with it it only recognizes the primary drive or the new one and no matter what I do it always said 'no OS found on any device' even when i have the windows xp cd in the cd rom and it asks if i want to boot from diskette or cd rom

wtf is going on? i cant even boot the stupid thing now. i've tried making the new HD the primary and ignoring the other one and nothing works. Is it just a crappy HD installer software or what?

"HDD installer software" ...what's that , i tought most hard drives , are plug and play....

anyway , dose it show on in BIOS ??? , if not check out the IDE cables and such....

also , like , make the second one a slave.....and , like is it a new hdd , because afaik those are unformatted , you need to format it first , like boot from xp and do it.....

check the boot options in your BIOS , they should look like this if you are having two hdd's

Primary boot : HDD 0 ( or similar , depending on the bios tipe , anyway , smallest number first )
Secondary boot : HDD 1 ( same asa above )
Third boot : whatever

It always seems to only show one HD and when I tell it to boot from CD it still doesn't work.

Could it be I'm using a USB keyboard and the software migt not be getting the right signals or something?

doubt it...if it would have not recived any signals you couldn't boot ( remeber the "click any key to bood from CD" thing )

your saying it only shows you one hdd , is it the old one , the new one or is it alternating.....

anyway , best thing would be to unplug the power suply ( or ide cable ) from the old one , and take it from there.....if you can see it , then format it and plug the old one back in .

are you sure that one is set as a Master and the other a Slave ( check jumpers )
