...for drawing stick figure with a gun and writing, 'Teachers must die'

"A boy of 11 was arrested for a school drawing of a stick figure with a gun pointed at four other figures with the words, 'Teachers must die.'

Police hauled the youngster from his home in Arvada, Colorado, in handcuffs, took a mugshot, fingerprinted him and then put him in a cell.

The boy, who is being treated for Attention Deficit Disorder, faces a misdemeanour charge of interfering with staff and students.
After doing the drawing in pencil, he felt calmer and threw it away, but a teacher picked it up and sent him to the principal's office.

The school was aware of the boy's medical condition and after deciding he was not a threat, notified his parents and sent him back to class.

But that night police arrived at his home and took him away, refusing to let his parents accompany him to the station."

Personally, I find this absurd. I think it's very normal for a child to draw silly things like this. In fact, I'm pretty sure I drew some pictures of this nature when I was young.

What do you think?

One of the biggest things in dealing with anger is to write out what is making you angry. In this boy's case he obviously finds it easier to draw what he feels.

My son drew a load of pictures with his dad being killed by various things. His teacher showed me and i said out loud "those are awesome"

I hate to think what they would have done to me when I was in my "stick figure" age. All my stick figures had big titties and a bush 'tween their legs.

Brings to mind once, when I was watching my neighbor's young son, about 5 or so. He was drawing, and when I looked to see what it was, it was pics of what you described, only of me and my hubby...
Twas quite uncomfy.

Should he have been arrested? NO.
Should there have been some kind of intervention? YES.

That's scary behavior and it needs to bee nipped in the butt.

I agree with you there Treebee.

Kristy, I would say, the time it becomes something to worry about, is if/when the child is aggressive with others and/or has their room plastered with such drawings...along with other contributing factors/actions.

My son is only four, so he hasn't yet made any drawing of that fashion. If he is anything like his father was(which the way it's going, he is ), I'm awaiting the many, many violent drawings. I won't like it, but kids and it seems to be more so BOYS, do that kind of stuff.

Kids are scary little f***ers. I remember Prince William in nursery who said to some other kid "one day i am going to be king and i will send my men to kill you"
