Hi guys, I bought a inspiron 1525 laptop from Dell over the internet in Nov 2008 for my daughter. The laptop developed a fault and my wife contacted Dell who wanted ?29.99 from her to send an engineer out who would diagnose the problem and fix whatever the problem was. When my wife pointed out that surely the laptop was still under waranty, us having the laptop less than 12 months, we shouldn't have to pay? But no, they were adamant, so like fools we parted with the ?30 pounds and sure enough the guy came and did he fix it? NOPE! After some Bull***t from him he left. We eventualy got the laptop working fine again (a friend sorted it)But alas the laptop now refuses to swith on. My question is, has anyone else whose had mercandise from Dell had a problem with trying to contacy Dell and sort a problem out with them? to me there after sales support stinks, never, ever again would i buy a product from them.

Dell sucks.
The motherboard on my old dell blew in three months, so I sold it.
Never again Dell, never again.

Dell and Microsoft are in cahoots and might as well be considered an organized crime syndicate for the way they rip off consumers...

I know some dell's desktops which have run excellently for years (over 5) and others like my friends laptop which blew a screen and the hard drive within a year. He eventually got his money back and upgraded to another brand.

I've never had a problem with dell components sold on their own but that is another horror story with a laptop. Keep well away from them it seems

I prefer to use mac's. Easier to use and not as many virus's to be caught on them.

My friends Dell broke in a few months and he never got his money back. He needed to buy a new one which really got on his nerves

My sister has a dell. She's had it for a year and a half, and it runs ok. Except sometimes, when it starts up, it hasn't done it properly, so she has to restart it about 3 times! I have, however, heard a lot of bad things about Dell, which is why I've mananged to successfully avoid them. I guess this proves that you should really research before you buy.

A long time back, say 15+ years ago, Dell actually made a very good system. They used good parts. They had good service. I still have a Dell box.

However, I agree they have gone down hill. I mean we're talking Packard Bell down hill.

Can't believe the customer service you got though... that's bad.

Okay... I know I showed my age!!
