Mobile phones w/internet?

So I don't really know how it all works with connecting to the internet on your mobile phone.

Can someone enlighten me?

I know it's expensive and seems kind of overkill considering our laptops have wifi availibility everywhere usually for free. My cell is Blackberry and internet capable but i don't feel the need to check my email on the drive home from work.

I pay like, less than 10 euros/month and I have all the internet access I want.

I'm talking about right in the phone without using the laptop. I don't always have it with me when distaster strikes

You'd need to have a 3G-phone for that to work

Have a look at Pocket PC phones running Windows Mobile platform.
Most have a dedicated internet key.

As for the cost it depends on what package you mobile service provider offers so it's best to shop around.

personally im not a fan i think we try to fit too much into our phones these days, whats wrong with keeping are life in segments, one day everything will be in one place then we will loose our phones or drop them in the bath (happened to a friend) and then where do we stand. OK know im over reacting but still....

If you've got wi-fi then it depends on the wireless modem/router that your connected to. If it's your own or a public network that can be used by anyone without needing a wireless key code, then it's free

I don't know how it works, but I just got an iphone and it's pretty cool.

Most phone browsers don't work too well with some websites, PMs on here for example, on angelcakes phone she cant read them and on my phone they are always open
Price isn't an issue if you get something like a blackberry or similar because you can usually get a tarrif with unlimited Internet access (fair use policy applies ) but speeds are not so great.
Look for GPRS as a minimum, but EDGE is supposed to be better
