Probably you got so many viruses. need a virus scanner to get rid of them all

It verys, depending on the program, but it ususly says that im not connected to the internet.

Firefox:
Failed to Connect

The connection was refused when attempting to contact en-gb.start2.mozilla.com.

Though the site seems valid, the browser was unable to establish a connection.

* Could the site be temporarily unavailable? Try again later.

* Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's network connection.

* Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.

Have you checked your firewall settings? Maybe it's not letting other browsers, etc through Sorry, I know nothing about computers either - this is pure guesswork!

Well, it could be either your windows firewall or your router firewall blocking things. The router one you should be able to access per instructions. As for windows firewall, go to control panel, security, windows firewall, click update settings, when box comes up, click on exceptions. Mine has all the stuff that I'm allowing ticked off, which includes browsers and other programs.

Just realised that I've given instructions for vista. I think XP is similar though.

I have vista, and ive even turned off my firewall to see if that would allow programs to connect to internet, it didn't

Oh crap When did the problem start? It could be the firewall on your actual router, or the settings on it. That's my best guess.

For all these programs to be acting like that, I find it very hard to believe that it's the actual programs. It's gotta be the computer or the settings or something.

I feel your pain!
