He basically said "merry christmas, im working till after new year but would love - emphasise the word love - to meet up for a drink or something. But in the mean time lets keep texting.

What does that text mean then guys?

well reading into that from a guys point of view i think that would mean-

he wishes you to have a "merry" christmas and that he is kinda busy atm but would really like to meet up with you and that maybe he wants to continue to contact you via mobile technology....
