Will the long awaited new Metallica Album suck?

We would all love it if the new Metallica album was great but what do you think are the chances of this really happening? and if it's not great what will we be given instead?

I conducted a poll of a sample group of Metallica fans:


It will be as good as Master of puppets 0% (0)

It *will* be better than St. Anger. It will be their best for over 10 years, no doubt. I believe it could be sorted in just below the Black Album (which has to be considered a good album as it contained such famous stuff like Enter Sandman)

If it's as good as the black album I would be happy it was my favorite.

I really doubt fans of their earlier music will really accept it.
Unless it's as good or close to Justice then I can't be bothered with them anymore.

i didnt rate their last album so hopefully it will be better than that

Of course it'll probably be the best thing they've done for 10 years... St. Anger is the only thing they've done for 10 years. And I could fart on a snare drum for 50 minutes and it'd be better than St. Anger.

I think their creative well has pretty much run dry. They haven't done anything really compelling in almost 20 years. The Black Album was good, but it wasn't that good, despite its enormous mainstream success. Master of Puppets was the last truly excellent album Metallica has released and that was 22 years ago.

The slow decline started with ...And Justice For All. This was a good album, of course, but it wasn't a worthy successor to the previous three. The Black Album was wildly successful, and had a really excellent sound, but it wasn't something they could maintain, and only a few of the songs were really very good anyway.

Everything they've released since has been worthless.

Metallica's lame, they've been lame for along time. Didn't stop me from buying tickets to their show on the 16th though.

if you go on youtube and put in new Metallica song you can listen to on of there new tracks.

i reckon it will be their best material since justice for all, they must have one great album inside them left..fingers crossed ..

Well the best thing the could do was get rid of Bob Rock as their producer!!

St. Anger was one of the WORST releases I've ever heard....

personally, i believe Metallica needs to stop making new albums or create another supergroup or something...if they continue to make crap albums, they might forever tarnish their image of being one of the greatest metal bands out there..


I just don't want to see Metallica become this "sucky" group, i rather them not make music and rather be considered as one of the greatest in my mind.

Metallica has been nothing but a joke for 10 years. It's pathetic that so many people can't even listen to towering, brilliant achievements like Master of Puppets anymore without having to associate it with the group of incompetent, belligerent, self-righteous a*****es the band has become.
