I know we have a few nurses on here. I wanted to ask you opinion on something.

My sister was goofing around on the floor with my three year old yesterday. at one point he kinda elbowed her in the abdomen, not on purpose of course, she cried out as you do when something hurts but only for a second. On getting up she said she felt a bit dizzy but we didnt combine the two and the incident was forgotten. However about an hour later when my sister used the bathroom she discovered what I can only describe as the worst bruising I have ever seen just above her pubic line, it stretches about 7 inches long and about three inches wide and it black as coal. We were both shocked that an elbow from a child could have caused to much damage.

Today she is at work but she just sent me a message to say she had called the doc because she is still feeling really dizzy but he thinks it's not related to the bruising. I'm not so sure. I play rough with him all the time and have never had anything on that scale..

I've been kicked by a yearling horse (yes big horse) directly in the stomach and didn't sustain that kind of bruising at all
I would think she would want to get checked out!

No...that's not normal at all. Even if he headbutted her I wouldn't think there would be that much damage

Thanks for the reply I just mailed her again and told her to get it checked out in person. I feel so terrible that my boy could have done that!!

I don't think it was your boy. I mean it's not normal...I hope she does go get it checked out. If there is something wrong, then your boy may have helped her

Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee take her to the doctor.

If its nothing, then at least your are worry free.

But for little kids, even a smallest blow can rupture a muscle or puncture the diaphragm, or the muscle that attaches the diaphragm to the stomach.

She tells me the bruise is no worse but she has more pain along the knicker line. She's a stubborn git, said she will go to the gp in the morning if no improvement.

I would but I don't live nearby and have no way of forcing her to go, she's not the type to be bullied into anything lol

Well just let her know...and monitor the kid. If she still feels dizzy by nightfall, do take her to the doctor.

Oh...sry. Well I would still go to the doctor. Had it only been busing, then i wouldn't have been worried, but that along with being dizzy is worrisome.

I'd send her off to the doctors or tell her to go to the hospital as that does not sound right at all.

She's not got any under lying conditions or anything?
