When someone tells a racist joke how do you react?

Completely honestly, if you found yourself in that situation, or if you have done in the past how would/did you react?

I'd like to say I'd confront them, but when I have heard racist jokes I've tended just to say silent, but I always feel guilty about not saying anything. What about you?

Truthfully and honestly, I'd probably say something like, "That's awful." or "That's not funny." I'm not sure I'd fully confront them, but I'd certainly make it a point that I did not find the joke humorous.

In all honesty, I'd probably tell a racist joke back. I'm not racist, if there were a lot of white jokes I knew about I'd tell them too

If I didn't find the joke funny, I'd say so; especially if it was meant to be degrading in some way...because, that's not humor.

The only time it pisses me off is when I have known the person to be seriously racist in the past.

According to my friends I am "anti-fun"; I do not take well to racist jokes.

kinda depends on the joke and the person... some people can pull if off without being offensive, and some really believe what theyre joking about... some jokes are funny and some are just stupid...

i voted laugh though... cuz if the joke is good and the person tells is in a funny manner, ill laugh like any other joke...

in all honesty, i laugh about it but i always say "that's messed up" while laughing at the joke. i'm not racist in any means, but humor is humor no matter how picture it. some jokes do go too far though... to the point where it's not funny just f***ed up. i dislike those kinds of people

I would most definately laugh.... It totally depends on the person. I've heard the best anti Jewish joke from Jews, and the best Racist jokes from black men.

I have to say that if the person were not joking at all, I would be very upset about it, but if I knew that it was just a joke, there is no reason to make a confrontation about it.

It depends on who's telling the joke. I'm Italian, I've heard too many to mention. If it's a rude putddown, I confront them. Some of my Jewish friends tell great Jewish jokes; they wouldn't do it if they didn't want a laugh.

It depends on the joke, also just what is "racist" about it. Many jokes involve someone being the brunt of it, too many people with chips on their shoulders about a context which just doesn't exist.

I would laugh, because if I took offence, then I would not get too see a lot of movies, clubs etc

I have learned that laughing at the world is so much better for my well being then crying or anger.

i would laugh if it was funny.

Personally, I think laughing is encouraging stereotypical thoughts. Even if the joke came from a person who is part of the group, it still demeans his position in society by implying that he considers himself inferior.
