(something i ripped from another forum..)

Insurers are poised to start taxing vehicles on their kerb-weight rather than on their engine size or make in the future.

The Association of British Insurers are now to put more emphasis on the weight of any vehicle as the heavier it is the more damage it is likely to do in any accident.

The new ratings are to be introduced later in the year where the number of groups will increase from 20 to 50 reflecting the newest technological changes.

This system was last reviewed in 1992.

This change is expected to hit four-by-fours and SUVs harder than most others.

i duno, i guess it depends if your occupation is considered.

For example things like tractors but it might discourage well off people buying huge cars for taking their 1 child to school and then back home.

I'm assuming you're talking about farming equipment when you say tractor. If so, they should be exemt from the tax because they aren't really used on the road for transportation purposes.
