Mammograms

Looking at Stevie's pic made me think.

A lot of women on here have probably never had a mammogram.

Its the weirdest thing in the world. You slap your b*** on a plate thingy and another plate comes down on it and flattens your whole boob.

Then they do the same from the side.

And then again with the other boob.

It didnt hurt, although my mother said it did, I was fine. It was just the strangest thing ever. I thought they were gonna pop or something was gonna squirt out of my nipple but they didnt and it didnt.

Anyways I posted this because if anyone ever has to go have one, I can reassure you its nothing to worry about. Its just really f***ing strange!

My mum has had loads coz she had cancer and she said she's only once had one that didn't hurt! It depends on who does it for you. My mum said normally they shove the plate down quickly to get it over and done with and that caines like s***! (My mum has sat there and cried coz of the pain, and she doesn't cry when she's hurt herself!) But once, she said the woman was sooo nice that it barely hurt at all... so it depends on the person who does it!

I never had one before.

Yeah I have to admit, she did it really slowly so it didnt hurt!

Usually you wont need one until you are over 50. So dont worry there

Just make sure you check your breasts regularly! My mum was much younger than 50 when she got breast cancer and she's just lucky my dad made her get it checked out (actually we're all lucky dad made her get it checked out!) So always check your breasts!

That's what my doctor said except she said 40 would be a good time to start getting annual mammograms. For now she says breasts exams are ok.

Me neither 8) I know it's necessary but it could be a humiliating experience, like those smear tests ? Jeeze !!! I'm glad I'm not a woman

I think the age will come down in the UK as breast Cancer is hitting younger and younger women.

So yeah as Steff said, its good to be breast aware at any age. My Surgeon gave me a pat on the head for being good

Its not so bad, just punch the b**** if she hurts you, it neednt hurt!

Probably it hurts less and less as you get older... younger boobs are well tender (then again, it may not get any less tender as you get older!)

There's also the debate about which hurts more - small b*** or big bobs in terms of the mammogram! Obiously it's the equivelent to which hurts more - giving birth or bing kicked in the nuts! No one can experience both so no one will ever really know!

Why can't they just make a scanner like Dr. McCoy has? The doctor just waves a tiny salt shaker with blinking lights in front of you and will know if you have cancer or not.
