I don't feel like reading through my text book right now @ 9pm... so:

Can anyone give me two means by which the Cold Was was fought?
And 2 major incidents that heightened tensions between the US and USSR?

Please and thank you, I have a serious case of summer-vacation syndrome. Two months to go and I've gotten entirely lazy.

Great, now all I need is just one more example of the means by which the Cold War was fought.

i'm pretty sure the cold war wasn't actually a war, just a lot of yelling and death threats

Anti communist hysteria (Sen Joe McCarthy held hearings Charging the US State dept. and the US Army with having been infiltrated with communist spies! Huac (House unamerican activities committee)investigated the film industry. Anti spy mania in USSR! culminating in the building of the Berlin Wall!
The cuban missile crisis,USSR wanted to move ICBMs into Cuba! That action was in response to USA installing missiles in Turkey! In the end the crisis was ended diplomatically with both powers removing the missles, threating the others territory

Berlin blockade, Greek Civil War, Communists gain control of China, Russian troops in Iran, First Israeli-Arab War, Korean War, Hungarian Revolt, Egypt controls Suez Canal, Sputnik, U-2 incident, Berlin Walls built, Castro in Cuba and Dominican Republic, Vietnam, Pueblo Incident, Nixon recognizes China, Czech revolt, Apollo lands on Moon, SALT, Afghanistan, 1980 Olympics, Pope John Paul II, Castro in Granada, High Frontier (AKA Star Wars), Berlin Wall torn down.

For an interesting event in anticommunist hysteria google Lyndon Johnson Leland Olds or see this webpage .

The more interesting history of the Cold War might be the CIA's involvement in French, Italian, and Polish politics with its support of anticommunist politicians and organizations like Solidarity. One might start with how one (and only one) CIA spy (if I remember right he was the grandson of President Teddy Roosevelt) managed to bribe enough Iranians to allow the United States to take over Iran.
