Japanese make gasoline from cow dung

TOKYO - Scientists in energy-poor Japan said Friday they have found a new source of gasoline ? cattle dung.

Sakae Shibusawa, an agriculture engineering professor at the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, said his team has successfully extracted .042 ounces of gasoline from every 3.5 ounces of cow dung by applying high pressure and heat.

It even says they found another useful extract from the dung that can be used as a fragrance in shampoo and candles!

I forgot where I heard this . . . but people do crazy crap in the name of beauty. And as this person said, if you told them to put some animal crap on their face (or in their hair, in this case) in the name of beauty, people would likely do it.

Some people here have set up the plants to make bio deisil to run their cars on.

They get the waste ccoking oil from fast food outlets and mix it with a little fuel then the end result is a fuel they can run their car on.


Good to see that other sources of energy are being sought out.
