I was wondering, what are the most solid and reliable brand of headphones (not earphones) you can get at around the ?50 mark.
I currently have a pair of Sennheisers which i really do like but the main reason i got them was because they were like ?30 when the RRP on Amazon was around about ?50. I'm not good with audio if that hasn't shown
So what's like the best brand at around that region, I'm mainly posting this because a friend of mine seems to think that skullcandy are the best headphones ever and when i looked up their headphones in an price equal range they seemed to be about the same, and by about the same i mean the frequency range was identical.

Right, back...

If you don't need them immediately, save up for a pair of Beyerdynamic 770Pros (circa ?150) as they are absolutely stunning. Look for them on eBay too etc.

Failing that, look up the Audio Technica range. They make some good lower priced models, in/around your budget.

Things to look out for:

Open or closed back and frequency range

No such thing as "best brand"

Ideally you would test all the models in the price range for the ones you like.

Yeah, covers a lot of stuff on there and really good to deal with too. Not always the cheapest, but much more upfront about stock levels - nothing worst than ordering something THEN being told it's not in stock

Yeah, and it usually takes a week for me to receive any orders I make with them. But that isn't that bad i guess, when its coming all the way from Germany.

Best thing I've found with Thomann, is the way they handle returns. They organise items to be shipped back to Germany, at their cost, no hassles etc. You'd be hard pressed to find a UK shop doing that

Had to return a guitar amp head once and was dreading what it was going to cost to ship, plus a power amp at one point too that DHL decided to drop a few times. In both cases, they just organised a delivery note, I call DHL to arrange a suitable pickup time and job done. No costs involved

That's another bad thing about Thomann, they use DHL. I'm not to fond of them, but I guess that can't be helped.

Think we sell them in the shop I work at in Tin Pan Alley, though I can't remember the price off the top of my head. Could find out for you if you want?

It's alright, I've got no problem with that price, it's only like 25 more than what i payed for what i have and I'm not really strapped for cash currently thanks to the school finally not f***ing my EMA up and reimbursing me for the times they did finally.
