Feeding your hair a good idea?

I am having hair dryness issues.

I haven't dyed in awhile, I think it's the hard water here.

I had people tell me put mayonaise, beer or even eggs in my hair.

I don't have mayonaise because I don't eat it.

Eggs, really? I have tried beer in my hair before,

I honestly did not notice it do anything for my hair, but
I didn't let it go to waste.

So what I want to know is, is food really good to put in your hair?
Or should I just eat/drink more of certain foods?

I would've thought a proper moisturising conditioner would be far better than putting the contents of your fridge in your hair.

Mine soaks up moisture by the bucket load; If I was to do mine properly every day, I'd get through more conditioner than I do milk every week

I'm in a hard water area and I have noticed a big difference compared to soft water. I've no idea why that is though.

I swear by avocado oil. I use it on my hair and my skin.
I give an intense treatment on my hair once a week, but every night I take about 5ml and distribute through my hair, it is enough to protect it from central heating drying it out without making hair greasy then wash it out next day.
My hair is in the best condition ever and it's down to the oil as I don't use any other treatments. If you don't like the smell try olive oil instead.

Lard or bacon grease works. Or Vasaline.
